Since July 2018 the Centre is proud to have a deputy director (styled Co-Director), Professor of Jurisprudence A J Barnard-Naudé http://www.privatelaw.uct.ac.za/pvl/staff/jbarnard. Professor Barnard-Naudé is an NRF rated researcher, a recipient of the UCT Fellows' Award, the Grotius Medal, the Santam Prize for Economics and the Gauteng Law Council Prize. He completed a doctorate in critical legal theory with specific focus on adjudication in the South African law of contract in transformation. His research interests include postmodern and poststructural legal theory, law & sexuality, post-Apartheid jurisprudence and law & Literature. He is an honorary research fellow at the Birkbeck Institute for Humanities, University of London and has spent time on research fellowships at the Max Planck Institute for Private International Law in Hamburg, Germany, the School of Law, Birkbeck College, University of London and was visiting Professor in the Westminster University School of Law in 2014. |
